This idyllic holiday house stands only a few minutes distance away from San Isidro in the south of Tenerife. Now belonging to an artist couple, the house has had a long and eventful history.

The foundations as well as the attractive terrace with stone seating in Roman style, have been built with local natural stone. Once this was a busy spot: This house with a history was once a bakery, a grocery and occasionally was used as a lounge-restaurant for traditional family festivities.
|
|
Built by Venezuelans in 1936, Juan Tejado and his wife have sensitively refurbished the house in keeping with old traditions. The name of the house, Casa del Flor, is well chosen: The house is surrounded by flowering geraniums.

Just a short distance from Casa del Flor is the small town of San Isidro, away from bustling tourist life. Here one can observe the day to day Canary life. The barren mountain countryside is quietly secluded but has nevertheless an excellent infrastructure. It is neither far from the airport nor the beaches of the south.
|
|
|
Life around the pool is refreshingly restful. This is where the guest finds true relaxation surrounded by lush flowering plant life.

In the rustic flair of the charmingly laid out terrace in front of the house one can enjoy the picturesque surroundings.
|
|
|
The interior is in itself literally a work of art. On the sunny yellow of the walls, numerous works of art catch the eye. Most, are the owners own work but amongst them are specially selected pieces of other artists - such as the large abstract wood painting - that have been given here a place of honour.

The rustic arch leads into a small reading room.
|
|
With its comfortable corner seating the lounge presents itself as both colourful and cosy. The soft cushions are most inviting with a reading lamp contributing indirect light. Setting the stage is a distinctive use of wood and stone throughout. The red leather armchair has been set as a lively accent piece. Here, we also find a continuation of the art gallery with its many different motives.

Plenty of variety can been found in the live-in kitchen with its country homeliness. Simple wood furniture accent the charm of this rustic house. Artistic flair is to be observed everywhere as even common everyday objects are presented as works of art.
|
|
|
Large expressive oil paintings hang decoratively on the walls of this light and pleasant bedroom. A wooden dado makes this room particularly snug. On the right and left of the beds, small brass lights add a subdued light.
|
|
|
The second bedroom has been given a maritime look in fresh blue and white. The large window lets in the morning sunshine.
