The building shows an outer facade both plain and closed in the typical tradition of the Canaries. The small balcony (above) is most unusual as is also the relatively large windows. Originally, for privacy and protection against the sun, all windows were fitted with inside wooden shutters.
Once the residence of the Marqueses de La Quinta Roja, this building dates back to the 16th Century and received, after a fire in the early 17th Century, its present appearance. This beautiful residence was restored to the highest specifications and offers with individually furnished rooms, a wonderful inside courtyard and diverse lounges, stylish and elegant holiday accommodation.

The Hotel Quinta Roja is part of the mediaeval old town of Garachico in the north of Tenerife, rebuilt at the beginning of the 18th Century after a volcanic eruption. Up to this time the town of Garachico was the most important harbour on Tenerife, traces of previous prosperity can be still seen in the buildings today.

The Hotel La Quinta Roja is situated on the Plaza and opposite the historic convent, Convento de San Francisco, whose nuns were offered refuge in a part of the residence for forty years by their patron, the Marqués de La Quinta.

The town of Garachico has kept its authenticity and urban features due to careful restoration and the use of traditional building skills in renovating the facades and buildings.

The highly motivated team of The Hotel La Quinta Roja offers various guided tours and depending on the distance, with picnic and provisions. Apart from walking tours in the region there is a worth-while excursion into the history of the town of Garachico.
The interior decoration of the residence fascinates through the use of exquisite wood-work and skilful craftsmanship. The furnishings of the hotel are classical. Clear lines and outstanding materials are a perfect supplement to the antiquity of the building.

The residence, appropriate to the rank of the Margrave from Quinta Roja, is of pleasing proportions. The Comedor del Marqués is suitable for small events or family parties. If required the hotel undertakes the organising in all detail, from a menu composed of a number of courses to the decorating of the tables.

To stay in the Hotel La Quinta Roja means to participate in a part of the history of the Canaries. This is a culture of which the inhabitants of the Canary Islands are particularly proud. That history is coming to life is to be credited to the young hotel staff team.
The hotel’s 20 rooms are beautifully furnished. The antique timber ceilings and flooring together with the typical Canary windows add to their charm.
