The holiday house, Caledón del Golfo, is situated in the south-west of Lanzarote and directly on the sea front of a small bay, a “caleta”. A splendid spot to enjoy the sea air, to watch the gulls, to fish and of course to bathe. If the ocean is rough there is a small pool on the large sea-facing sun-terrace to cool off in. Originally built as a fisher house it was converted into a holiday domicile in the 1950’s and has retained much of its character.

Quite obviously in the building tradition of Lanzarote this holiday house, through the use of dark lava stone on the facade of the house and the brilliant blue of doors and window frames, has its individual character.

The sun-terrace is completely covered with shingle which is also used to finish off the walls made from boulders from the beach.

The lava stones have been left without plaster and thus make a most decorative contrast to the gleaming white of the walls.

With each wave fresh sea water is carried into the sheltered rock pool, an ideal spot to bathe.

The beamed ceiling gives the living-room a cosy character and the antique blue and red patterned tiles on the floor are reminiscent of the pebbles on the driveway.

Next to the entrance-hall is the living-room, with comfortable seating, this opens up into the dining-room with its large wooden table. Exactly as the adjacent kitchen, the dining-room has access to the central courtyard.
