Lanzarote Accommodation Lanzarote Villas Lanzarote Self Catering: Holiday Home Casa El Casto

For the Canaries this reflects a typical building style: Although appearing to have a closed frontage, it is in fact opened up completely to the inside. The Casa El Casto in the north-west of Lanzarote was once a farm house and built then in the typical style familiar to the island.

The small 'rampart' like wall reflects in a friendly way the gleaming rays of the sun.

Once inside the house there is a feeling of complete transparency. The hub of the household is the attractive cobbled patio. Here, in this typical Spanish atrium one meets either to enjoy the peace of this oasis within the house or maybe just a glass of the local vintage.

|
|
The Casa El Casto is situated at what is normally the dry bed of a river and is surrounded by nature's harvest. On 9,000 m2 of surrounding land there are fields of vegetables and fruit.

A shady spot can be found at all times under the straw covered sun-roof. Here one finds plenty of seats and recliners.

A refreshing oasis, lying at the centre of a beautifully kept lawn, is the 8 x 4 metres long pool which is heated throughout the winter. The fairy-tale green 'hedge' is in reality the completely green covered façade of the house. Behind the two 'peeping' windows lie bathrooms with a direct view of the pool. If wished, following a generous plunge, one can enjoy the fruits of the field. Juicy red strawberries are freshly picked here …

Generous glass frontage brings both warmth and light into the interior where use has been made of natural woods. The 280 m2 living accommodation allows ample room for up to six guests and at the same time offers each the required privacy. From the snug seating in the light flooded conservatory one can enjoy a free view of the Spanish patio and the many plants abundantly growing in the gentle sub-tropical climate.

The striking timbered ceiling acts as a warm contrast to the beautifully cared for terra-cotta flooring. The simple, partly free standing timber staircase in balustrade style, leads to a double room.

The comfortable sofas found in the living and dining room offer cosy seating. Who may prefer to watch the world news can do so in the television room. Here the sat-TV offers a number of international channels.

|
The kitchen in this once farmhouse is excellently equipped and meets the highest expectations. Below the rough hewn roof beams, in the gleam of the ceiling lamp and sitting next to the attractive kitchen cabinet one can enjoy the cosy homely atmosphere here at the centre of family activity. Everyone collects around the rustically laid kitchen table.

|
|
Imposing timber ceilings, the warmth of wooden fitments and terracotta floors can also be found throughout the private rooms. Especially selected objects from local artists decorate the white-washed walls. In this exclusive bedroom the guests sleep in a bower of flowers.

The Casa El Casto has three double rooms, one of them opening onto the atrium. The bathrooms have been designed with tasteful imagination reflecting the high standards of the owner.

This particular bedroom has an exceptional feature and that is the completely open bathroom placed between the sleeping area and the cosy reading corner.
