LA PALMA HOTEL LA PALMA

The small hotel “Pension La Tienda” is located on the outskirts of the town of El Paso in La Palma’s west. This was once a house accommodating the local shop of the area, hence the name La Tienda. This old and attractive town house has been lovingly and carefully restored and turned into a charming hotel.

The house has a second courtyard overlooking the garden with a view of the countryside and the Atlantic. A large almond tree spends wonderful shade in the summer and in the spring it turns into an enormous pink bouquet that decorates the courtyard.
The antique water cistern has been made into a small pool, delightfully refreshing on hot days.

The stones that jut prominently out of the white walls of the facade give evidence to the thickness of the walls of natural stone.

The flower garden and the kitchen garden with its scented orange and lemon trees, blend naturally into the landscape in the tradition of country gardens on La Palma. Accordingly, also a donkey farm and an old threshing floor are parts of the inventory of the house.

The Pension La Tienda is located directly next to the nature reserve of the Caldera Taburiente and so offering the ideal starting point for hiking and biking tours.

The excellent breakfast buffet is served in the large salon with its antique beamed ceiling. For the guests there is small kitchen for special requirements or just for making a coffee in between and for groups there is a special room available for seminaries.

The rooms in the Pension La Tienda are individually furnished and vary in size and lay-out. In addition to the classic double rooms in the main building there are rooms in other buildings that have a separate entrance to the garden, an apartment with a large kitchen and separate living-room and the very lovely “Garden Suite” with two bedrooms, live in kitchen and a private terrace.

The carefully chosen furniture and decorations harmonise perfectly with the historic building details of the house.

All rooms have a bathroom either with a shower or a bath en-suite. In addition the hotel has a sauna which is complemented by the addition of a small counter-current pool.

The kitchen-cum-living room in the Garden-Suite is delightfully furnished in the best country style. The large glass windows and glass double doors integrate the kitchen and the garden terrace and open up views of the extraordinarily beautiful landscape. This room with its large fireplace is a wonderful spot for cosy evenings.
