Shining in the sunshine beside the ocean on the black lava sands of Puerto Naos, we see the attractive facades of holiday houses in the typical style of La Palma. The Casa Julio, on the right in the picture (top floor), has a beautiful large roof terrace and offers its guests holiday accommodation in maritime surroundings.

Through the wide open casement windows there is a sweeping view of the rolling blue Atlantic. In the bedroom one can enjoy the fresh morning breeze to the sound of the waves breaking on the shore.

The first cup of coffee of the day can be taken at the small table. Afterwards one goes out onto the sun-drenched roof terrace. Here, high above the ocean one has the ideal vantage point for watching the bustling life on the beach with a quiet start to the day and at the end of it one is rewarded with a sun set. It is pleasant to be close to the promenade with its many restaurants, boutiques and beach cafés.

Sea foam is continually washing around this imposing rock. The dark lava sand is a constant reminder that this very green island is of volcanic origin. This is the reason why the island is fondly named La Isla Bonita (The Beautiful Island). The fertile soil brings forth an abundance of flowering plants. The continually changing display of colour stands in fascinating contrast to the black primitive rock.

The high, light rooms in the Casa Julio are what give this house its irresistible flair. The dark green of the shutters is a pleasant contrast to the gleaming white of the walls. In good taste are the small red tiles and the plain wooden chest of drawers against the wall.

Maritime impressions wherever one looks: Above the double bed the restless ocean has been caught in a small gallery of photographs. A feeling of airiness is communicated by the sea-breezes. Without doubt, here one can dream to the gentle rhythm of the waves.
|
The high glass door leads onto a small balustrade. This is the spot to admire a clear view of the popular beach and its shade spending palm trees. Often one can observe from here the hang- and para-gliders. Inside the rooms have been kept deliberately simple and are pleasantly cool.

The large corridor with an attractive wooden floor becomes, with its cosy alcove seating, a welcome additional living and dining area. The modern lounge has a sofa-bed and is a wonderful place of fine arts and entertainment. Literary art finds its expression in the painted library to the left.
