Initially this Apartment on La Palma used to be the farm house of a family native to the island. Now owned by the granddaughter it has been lovingly restored and combines both authentic charm with all modern comfort. The massive stone walls have been plastered and glow in a sunny yellow. Windows and doors have been replaced and are in the Canary tradition.

The Casa Elena is beautifully tucked away between vegetable gardens and small houses in the countryside of El Paso.

One can sit in the shade of mature trees in the shelter of the inside courtyard. The adjacent cottage garden shows a typical mix of flowering trees and bushes with between them orange and almond trees and geraniums and palms.
|
|
There are fine views across El Paso and the Valle de Aridane to the mountains of the Caldera de Taburiente and the wide Atlantic.

The Apartment Casa Elena is furnished in a bright country style. The beautiful visible timber work of the roof and the partly authentic furniture blend well with the fresh colours of the walls and the new decorations.

As in old times the kitchen of the Casa Elena is the hub of the house. With the large dining-table and cosy interior and plenty of room to work it quickly becomes a favourite spot. The large refrigerator, good storage facilities and plentiful tableware, pots and pans, make self-catering a pleasure.
|
|
The living-room is painted in a fresh yellow and shows the typical built in cupboard to be found in country houses on the Canaries. Normally as open shelving built directly into the wall, the doors have been added later on. Also typical is the antique chest, here used as an extra table.

The simple bathroom is furnished with a bath, WC and wash-basin.

In the Casa Elena there are 3 bedrooms. Behind the kitchen is a twin-bedded room which opens onto the courtyard. The second double room is adjacent to the living-room and is connected to the children’s room.
