The warm tints of the façade glow in the sunshine. Comfortable basket chairs stand waiting in the cobbled interior courtyard. Shady spots are easily found under the high arcades of the two story building which boasts a wooden gallery along its full width.

Founded in 1572 by the eldest of the local landholders, the Hacienda has the oldest of the island's banana plantations. Since then the lofty banana plants reach to the blue skies. The 18th century manor house, built by a Count of Arucas is in the colonial style and for many generations in the ownership of this country aristocracy. In 1997 and with a sensitive attention to detail, the Countess Arucas turned this venerable country seat into a beautiful country hotel.

Nestling, in what is more than 500,000 m2 of estate at the foot of the Monte de Arucas, the guest finds the ideal place for peace and relaxation in a comfortable and informal atmosphere.
The mild climate of the Canaries is best sampled from one of the comfortable sun-beds, whilst the shimmering turquoise of the swimming-pool offers refreshment on warm summer days.

The gardens are set out in a classical style. The wide expanse of lawn is segmented by narrow paths which radiate away from a central stone fountain.

The elegant combination of a historic manor and a comfortable residence is complimented through contemporary design and service elements.

The tone of the modern spa and fitness area is influenced by the 200 year old history of the building. Thick, high walls of natural stone ensure a pleasant temperature whilst the Turkish steam-bath and whirlpool are for ultimate relaxation.
The large modern roof of glass adds a light flooded atmosphere and a superb contrast to the old masonry of the walls.

Even in the bathrooms one can find various stylish elements of days gone-by.

White hangings give this four poster bed a touch of an oriental fairy-tale. Old masonry, timber beams, carefully selected materials and décor in country-house style add a comfortable and homely style to the rooms. Through the wide open double doors one can indulge in the tranquillity of ones surroundings.

The spacious drawing-room is lovingly planned. A modern fireplace harmonises extremely well with the antique elements and the unusual flooring is of wood and terracotta is in accordance to local building tradition.

The delicious local fare of the Canaries is served in the hotel restaurant at delightfully decorated tables. Here, the best accompaniment is the country wine of the region.
